Giving in to Gluten

Client: TEMPO Magazine

Deliverables: A magazine spread

Background: Typography is the art of arranging letterforms. As an experiment for a magazine spread about gluten-free lifestyles, Theresa wanted to experiment with my typography, creating it from things that often contain gluten like flour, granola, and pasta.

Initially, she began with a sketched layout and transferred digitally to a computer. She then projected that layout onto a black background to help me mold the flour and other materials into place. After hours of laying the materials down, cleaning edges, and getting things near perfect, we were able to capture the perfect shot of the type.

Objective: Create a magazine spread for an article about the temptations of products that contain gluten.
